Delicious gourmet foods using the freshest local Somerset produce delivered to your door, with full instructions for reheating. Whether you need our help for a family supper or a special dinner party, or simply to fill up your freezer, we are delighted to assist. If there is nothing on this list that whets the appetite, just call us and we will be very pleased to offer alternative suggestions from our bespoke lists.
Prices quoted include local delivery within a twenty mile radius of Taunton. A courier service is available via www.bigbarn.co.uk and charges will apply to all deliveries outside this radius.

Simply a Starter, or Perhaps a Light Bite?
Rough Country Pate A delicious combination of pork fillet, minced pork and pigs liver with juniper berries, mace and bay leaves, local bacon and a splash of Somerset apple brandy. Serves 8-12 guests, and guaranteed a winner for a simple supper served with crusty bread, or a decadent first course for a special dinner party. Serves 8 - £19.95
Smooth Chicken Liver Pate with Brandy and Thyme This unctuous combination of the finest local chicken livers, brandy, Somerset butter, garlic and thyme makes this a real winner for easy suppers or light lunches, or as a fabulous starter for entertaining. Serves 8 - £19.95
Smoked Trout and Dill Pate A simple combination of the finest smoked salmon, lemon juice and cream cheese, this is a pate for easy weekend lunches, or perhaps an excellent starter for Easter Sunday lunch? Serves 4/8 - £10.50/19.95

Red Onion and Thyme Tart A delicious shortcrust pastry made with the finest flower, filled with a creamy combination of Somerset crème fraiche, thyme and red onions and topped with cheese. Serves 4 to 6 - £19.95
Hot Smoked Salmon and Herb Pasta Bake This is macaroni with a difference! Good quality pasta is combined with hot smoked salmon fillets, herbs, butter and cream, and a dash of white wine, and then baked in the oven with a herby breadcrumbed top sprinkled with parmesan cheese. A perfect family supper dish or starter. Serves 4/6 - £18.50
Tomato, Aubergine and Mozzarella Bake Ideal for a vegetarian option when entertaining, or as a super accompaniment to some roast pork, this baked dish is a winner, including local tomatoes, aubergines, garlic, basil and mozzarella in traditional Italian style. Serves 6/8 generously - £19.95
Exeter Beef A traditional local recipe, handed down to me through generations, this is a fabulous and probably our most popular dish. Tender pieces of Somerset beef, sauteed with parsley, onions, shallots and local mushrooms, and braised in local Cider, cooked in a slow oven for several hours. Our recipes serve 4 or 8 generous portions, and you will be asked for seconds! £19.95/£37.50
Beef (or Venison when available) with Pickled Walnuts Absolutely perfect for crowds, this dish is immensely popular with all who taste it! Prime Somerset beef, cooked to perfection with Port, Guinness, thyme, garlic and good old fashioned pickled walnuts (can be omitted if desired!). Serves 10/12 generously - £37.50
Beef Braised with Thyme, Red Wine, Oranges and Olives – a Somerset Daube Tender local beef casseroled in a slow range oven with thyme, red wine, oranges and olives and hint of garlic – a truly fabulous dish for family or friends – Serves 4/8 - £19.95/£37.50
Mary’s Chicken Mary Rowbotham and Tom Owen ran a wine bar for some years in West London during Tom’s earlier acting career, and Mary designed this popular family supper dish which we have used for informal supper parties as much as for family eating. Creamy chicken in a white sauce with a hint of curry powder and local broccoli combines with a Somerset Cheddar cheese crumble. Just pop into a hot oven to reheat and serve perhaps with a crisp salad of Little Gem lettuce and chives, or some hot crusty bread. Serves 4/8 - £19.95/£37.50
Braised Pheasant (when available) Done in a variety of ways, we can braise pheasant with madeira wine, garlic and thyme; celery, white wine and soured cream; or with brandy, grapes and cream in the traditional Harvest gathering method of the vintners of long ago! Serves 4/8 - £19.95/£37.50
Pork with Wild Mushrooms, Chorizo and Chestnuts A new favourite with Combe Florey Kitchen, this robust casserole braises succulent pieces of prime local pork with celery, rosemary and thyme, red wine, juniper, mushrooms and chestnuts, and is perfect with mashed potatoes, pasta or polenta. Serves 6 - £32.50
Somerset Pork One of our best loved bespoke dinner party dishes, this can serve equally well for a family treat. Succulent pieces of pork are sauteed with local butter, onions and apples from our abundant orchards, and combined with the finest local double cream and Somerset Apple Brandy from award winning producers, to give a fabulous meal for 4/8 - £19.95/£37.50
Tuscan Lamb A classic Italian dish using the finest cannelini beans, local lamb fillet, redcurrant jelly, thyme, red wine and garlic, combined in the oven and baked to create an interesting array of textures and a fabulous sauce, to be mopped up with some lovely local breads or garlic creamed potatoes perhaps? Serves 4/8 - £19.95/37.50
Kleftiko A combination of recipes from Mary Berry and Rick Stein, we have devised a Somerset version! Slow cooked with garlic, oregano, lemon and potatoes, the meat just melts in your mouth. Serves 6-8 - £37.50
Jenny’s Beetroot and Horseradish Gratin A family recipe, handed down through generations from my Holford aunt, this is a warm and comforting vegetable dish, ideal served alone for supper with hot crusty bread or as an innovative accompaniment, perhaps to roasted meats or a warming casserole. Layers of local beetroot steeped in a creamy sauce of cheese, local crème fraiche and Somerset horseradish are topped with breadcrumbs and baked in a hot oven. Serves 8 as a side dish - £16.95
Rosemary Crusted Oven Baked Potatoes Another ideal vegetable accompaniment, this dish combines slices of floury maincrop potatoes such as Maris Piper or Desiree, with rosemary from the garden, a light stock, gruyere cheese and breadcrumbs, baked in the oven for serving. Serves 8 - £18.50
French Bean Casserole An unusual casserole of local green beans, parmesan, mushrooms and onions, baked in the oven, and ideal with pork, chicken and beef dishes. Serves 8 - £16.95
Potato and Porcini Gratin Creamy slices of local potato, crème fraiche, garlic and the finest porcini mushrooms, combined to make a delicious side dish or ideal vegetarian supper for 8 guests - £18.50
Braised Celery Vinaigrette Celery is wonderful served with poultry and game and this dish can be served hot or cold with salads and cold meats. Braised with lemon, parsley and olive oil – serves 6 £18.50

Almond Torte with Rhubarb and Ginger Compote A dense moist cake, always a favourite to serve as a pudding with clotted or whipped cream, we are offering this autumn a delectable combination with a Rhubarb and Ginger Compote when available. Can also be used with plums and other autumn fruits. Serves 8 generously - £19.95
Rich Chocolate Torte A must for chocaholics! Moist, decadent, full of the finest dark chocolate, and the ultimate pud for a birthday treat or special occasion. Offer with clotted cream or crème fraiche. Serves 8-12 - £19.95
Fruit Crumble Perhaps rhubarb, plum or apple, depending on availability, our local fruit is cooked lightly with golden caster sugar and topped with a rich buttery crumble topping with a hint of cinammon and nutmeg or ginger. A firm family supper favourite – serves 4/8 - £16.50
Traditional Family Fruit Trifle Made with local raspberries, frozen straight after picking, West Country preserves and the finest egg custard– serves 8 - £24.95

Preserved Ginger Cake with Lemon and Lime Icing A family favourite for a cut and come again cake which has delicious pieces of preserved stem ginger baked into a crumbly textured sponge, with ground almonds and molasses…………. mmm! Serves 8/12 - £16.95
Traditionally made Preserves – sweet and savoury – Choose from Apricot and Almond, Lemon Curd, as well as Traditional Mincemeat, Cranberry Confit and Pickled Pears, all produced in screw top 1lb glass jars. £4.95 per jar
In addition to the above products, we offer a bespoke selection of cocktail food, dinner party dishes and desserts to order for 2 or more guests for private delivery. Working lunches, salads, sandwiches and buffets are also available to order for private delivery. Spelt products are also available on request.
Our bespoke catering menus begin at £15.95 per head for two courses inclusive of local delivery. Create your own menu, or choose from several options, including innovative and unusual canapes; Parmesan Roulade with Herbed Cream Cheese, Figs stuffed with cream cheese, herbs and wrapped in dry cured ham, Prawn and Cheddar Crumble, or perhaps Croustades with Gravadlax and soured cream; Navarin of Lamb, Pork with Maple Syrup and Mushrooms or Hungarian Pimenton Goulash; Roasted Red Peppers with Fennel or Onion; Pistachio Meringues with Compote of Orange and Rhubarb or Rich Chocolate Sauce, Lime and Passion Fruit Creams, Iced Almond Parfait, Lemon Curd Fool, or Chocolate Meringue Roulade, Local Cheeses with Artisan Breads and Biscuits. We also offer a selection of teatime tray bakes and assorted sandwiches.
Our menu selection changes seasonally and if there is something you would like but cannot find it on this list, do please ask! All recipe dishes are delivered with full cooking/reheating instructions and can be frozen. Some bespoke orders are not suitable for home freezing.
